Japan Investor Interface Co., Ltd. (JII) is a specialist firm that helps Japanese companies communicate more effectively with overseas investors.
Our work includes English translation and review of IR and disclosure materials, interpretation for investor meetings, and support in developing English-language disclosure. IR teams can engage JII from the planning stage to consider what information should be communicated, how it should be structured, and how it is likely to be understood by overseas investors.
Teddy Okuyama
Born in Hawaii and raised in Los Angeles, Teddy grew up in a Japanese family and received his education entirely in English. English is his native language, while Japanese was spoken at home from childhood. He also developed a strong command of written Japanese through extensive reading from an early age.
He began working professionally as a translator in 2009. After translating sell-side equity research in the investment research division of a major Japanese securities firm, he worked for an independent research provider before becoming independent in 2019.
He subsequently translated a large volume of earnings-call transcripts and related investor materials. Through this work, he developed a close understanding of what analysts were trying to establish through their questions, how management explained changes in performance, and which aspects of a business investors focused on when forming an investment view.
Around 2020, he began interpreting meetings between Japanese companies and overseas investors. He established Japan Investor Interface Co., Ltd. in 2023.
Today, his work spans IR translation and interpretation as well as support for English-language disclosure, including consultation on how Japanese companies can communicate their businesses, performance, and management thinking more clearly to overseas investors.
